Principal's Message
District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Barpeta, Howly is a premier and nodal institute in the district providing academic and resources support towards universalization of qualitative school education. This institute is located at Howly, a prime place of Barpeta district with convenient transport and communication facilities. It was established in 1994.
Two regular teacher education courses namely Diploma in Elementary Education(D.El.Ed.) and Bachelor of Education(B.Ed.) are being conducted both the courses are of two year duration with four semester syllabus. The D.El.Ed. course is affiliated by SCERT, Assam and B.Ed. course is affiliated by Bodoland University , Kokrajhar, Assam. In addition to these two courses. DIET Barpeta is doing short term teacher’s training course under SCERT and SSA, Assam as and when required. Regular short term professional development training or workshop in some specific need base for the school teachers are also area conducted by DIET Barpeta. E-learning material development for school education and school supervision and monitoring are also done by the faculty members of this institute. Research and study on educational issues are also conducted by the academic staff members. DIET, Barpeta is also associated with NCERT & SCERT to perform the district level NAS,SEAS etc. The District level science exhibition and yoga competition for the students of class VI- to XII are conducted by DIET, Barpeta in every year. DIET Barpeta is doing best effort to produce good quality prospective teachers for school education and provide support for enhancement of quality education in Nation.
